―Transit

Transit Priorities

  • Address traffic concerns associated with family and community safety.

  • Increase accessibility of transit to further support the diverse needs of residents.

  • Ensure safety and comfort of riders by advocating for more bus shelters.

  • Reduce congestion to support the transportation of goods and services.

Vehicle emissions are the primary cause of air pollution in View Royal and takes away from the green atmosphere our community enjoys. We can reduce emissions by encouraging the use of public transportation.

Bus shelters will provide greater visibility, meaning your bus is less likely to drive by you. Additionally, they will help those waiting for the bus to stay dry and healthy.

Because of View Royal’s geographic importance for regional transportation, we have a vested interest in supporting the movement of people, goods and services. View Royal has the opportunity to work in conjunction with the provincial government and surrounding municipalities to create new transportation infrastructure. In particular the Esquimalt and Nanaimo railway is an established corridor that could be utilized with buses to alleviate large amounts of traffic. The E&N corridor would support workers on their daily commute, tourists to explore our beautiful town, and provide residents consistent service. An additional benefit of this corridor would be to provide emergency services vehicles a traffic free route further improving response times.
